Introduction
Welcome to my Studebaker Transtar pickup truck's own little home on the Web. My truck may be considered a daily driver EXCEPT for the minor detail that it is currently out of commission (translation: stalled out in the front yard). Pretty sure it is the clutch that has gone out on it. Maybe and hopefully something can be done about it as soon as the weather gets a little better 'round these parts..
Best as I could tell at the time, mine was the first Studebaker, either car or truck, to be registered here in Pickens County, Georgia, in recent years anyway. I say that because the young clerk who was helping me register it just after I bought it didn't quite know where to put it in the county courthouse's computer system.
Was quite funny, actually. At least twice the clerk asked me for the name of my truck's model. I would say, "a Studebaker", to which she would then say, "Yes. But is it a Ford, a Chevrolet, a Dodge...??"
:giggle:
Eventually a more seasoned supervisor came up to help her out when they realized I had been standing there for several minutes while everyone else around us was zipping right in and out. They eventually ended up creating a new Studebaker category specially for my little red and white beast of a machine. If I get nosey enough one of these days, I figure on checking into whether or not Pickens County ever did turn into a two Stupidbaker town..
